Day 3: CLI, Tools, and Sandbox Discipline
The CLI is where Hermes Agent becomes operational. It can inspect context, choose tools, execute commands, edit files, and verify outcomes. That power needs discipline.
A reliable loop
- State one objective.
- Let the agent inspect the relevant files.
- Review the proposed scope if the task is risky.
- Let it edit through the normal project workflow.
- Run verification.
- Ask for a concise summary of changes and residual risks.
Sandbox thinking
Sandboxing is not friction. It is how you keep automation bounded. A good Hermes Agent session should make it clear which files are touched, which commands ran, and which actions required approval.
Prompt style that works
Bad prompt:
Make this app better.
Better prompt:
Fix the article list loading bug. Inspect the route, data query, and component first. Make the smallest safe patch and run the relevant check.
Your task
Pick one small bug or documentation gap. Ask Hermes Agent to inspect first, then patch, then verify. The goal is to practice a controlled tool loop rather than chase a large feature.
